HYPPADEC Flags Off Training For 5,000 Youths In Niger

Minna – The Hydro-electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), on Thursday flag off the Youths Transformation Programme (YTP) training for over 5,000 unemployed youths and women.

Managing Director, of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa made this known in the opening ceremony in Minna.

Yelwa said that it was the desire of the commission to improve the living standard of teaming youths across the 6 HYPPADEC states through job creation.

“They participants are from Niger,Kogi, Kebbi, Plateau and Kwara States.

He explained that the commission is partnering with the NDE and Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation MITI in line with the federal government policy to take off the street those numbers of youths as a life changing skills acquisition exercise.

He maintained that the beneficiaries cut across the six states with Niger State having about 1,400 participants are entitled to a stipends of N15,000 for graduates and N10,000 for non graduates while starter packs awaits them after the training for three and six months respectively.

Earlier, the Rector of MITI, Dr Nana Ibrahim who applauded the commission for the foresight, assured to leave to the expectations.

Ibrahim said that only those who performed creditably with good character would be awarded with certificate.

“You must be seen to demonstrate high level of moral conduct during the training exercise”,he said.

The Niger State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mamman Musa represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Jonathan Wasa commended the efforts of commission for creating job opportunity for teaming unemployed youth.

Urging them the participants to leverage on the opportunity seriously so as to be self reliant and contribute towards nation building.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Abdullahi Salihu of People With Disability and Zainab Abubakar appreciated the kind gesture of the Commission and assured to justify the confidence reposed on them by making use of the opportunity maximally. ( NAN / vitalnewsngr.com )
