Kogi – A member of the Governing Council of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Isah Ozi-Salami, was in the early hours of Thursday kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Okene, Kogi State.
Ozi-Salami was on his way to mosque for the early morning Subuhi prayer when he was abducted.
The mosque was said to be a stone throw from his house in Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government.
A man going to the same mosque with Ozi-Salami was not so lucky as he was killed by the kidnappers.
Reports said that the man had attempted to attract attention
to the kidnappers by raising alarm when they wanted to kidnapp Ozi-Saalami.
Ozi-Salami was taken away in a Golf Volkswagen car brought by
his abductors.
Kogi State Police Command spokesman, William Aya confirmed the incident.
Aya said that the state police Commissioner has ordered that security be beefed up in the area.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have raised alarm over the degenerating security situation in Adavi Local Government area over incessant killings.
Only on Wednesday, two men were killed by gunmen in the area.
One of those killed simply ide.tigied as Patrick Ogunleye
was killed in front of the Federal College of Education, Okene at about 10pm on Wednesday. (vitalnews)
