Lokoja – Ahead November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has continue to receive new members into its fold with the latest being Hon. A.K. Salihu, a former member of the House of Representatives and his supporters.
Salihu, a former two-term House of Representatives member, led Hon Udu Malik, former caretaker chairman of Okehi local government, and many other PDP members from the area to join the ruling APC.
Others who also decamped are Hon Haruna Yusuf, who served as the Aide De-camp to former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Hon Austin Ochu, the former PDP spokesman for Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Receiving the defectors at the government house on Saturday, Governor Yahaya Bello commended them for their decision to join the APC.
Bello expressed confidence that their support would aid the APC’s victory in the coming governorship election.
He assured them of equal opportunities within the party, emphasizing that the November 11 governorship election is about the future of the state.
Bello, urged the them to campaign across the three senatorial districts to ensure a strong victory for the APC’s flag bearer, Ododo Ahmed Usman.
Salihu in his speech praised Governor Bello for his developmental efforts, particularly in securing the lives and livelihoods of the people of the state.
He explained that he and his group members were attracted to the APC by its people-oriented policies and internal democracy that exists in the party.
Salihu then assured Bello of their full support for the governorship candidate of APC, Ahmed Usman Ododo and expressed their commitment to secure victory for him in the election.
