The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 of its personnel over offences related to desertion, scandalous behaviour, and patrol misconduct.
The decision was announced on Thursday, February 12, in Abuja in a statement signed by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts, five were disengaged for scandalous behaviour, while seven were sacked over misconduct during patrol operations.
Mohammed said the action underscored the Corps’ firm stance on discipline, stressing that the FRSC uniform symbolises honour, duty, and accountability.
“Any officer who chooses to violate the standards of this noble institution will face the full weight of the Corps’ disciplinary machinery,” he said.
The Corps Marshal described the move as a strong signal of the agency’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline and ethical breaches, noting that the FRSC operates as a professional paramilitary organisation guided by strict regulations.
He explained that desertion remained a grave violation, particularly in an organisation tasked with ensuring road safety nationwide.
He added that scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct directly undermine public trust and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.
The FRSC assured Nigerians that it would strengthen internal monitoring, improve supervisory frameworks, and intensify ethical reorientation across commands nationwide.
It also urged road users to maintain confidence in its operations and continue supporting its mission of promoting safer roads across the country.
The Corps further cautioned members of the public against having any official dealings with the dismissed officers.
