The Federal Government and the security agencies have been charged to be proactive and contain the increased spate of killings in Kwara State and other parts of the Nation.
In a statement signed by Barrister Michael Adeboye and Mallam Bologi Jimada for Committee of Friends of the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, they condemned the breach in Kwara South and Kwara North, particularly the recent killings in Oke-Ode and Babanla in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
The Committee of Friends described as barbaric and unacceptable, the spate of killings in Kwara State, commiserating with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, the affected communities, and the bereaved families.
They applauded the government and security agencies for their prompt action, calling on the people to support the efforts of the government at combating insecurity in the State generally.
The Body called for increased security deployments to the state to rout the criminals involved in attacks in parts of the State, while commending the State Government for providing security equipment & gadgets to security agencies within the State.
It regretted the loss of innocent civilians and some members of the Forest Guards who mounted a spirited resistance to the assailants on grounds of patriotism and love for their communities.
They charged the residents to remain calm and commended all the Forest Guards and the local hunters who, though lost five of their compatriots, equally neutralised several of the attackers.
The Committee of Friends described as a welcome development the directive by the Army Headquarters, directing the General Officer Commanding (GOC), two Division of the Nigerian Army in Ibadan, to relocate to Kwara State to further coordinate and boost military response to the development.
