Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Miss Teslimat Abiola Nurudeen, a final year student of Kwara State University (KWASU), for making history as the institution’s first undergraduate to complete a solo flight.
Teslimat Nurudeen achieved the feat on April 20, 2026, when she successfully piloted a 24-minute circuit at the Ilorin International Airport—a milestone that has drawn commendation from across the state and beyond.
Reacting to the development, Saraki described the achievement as “a harvest we envisioned years ago,” linking it directly to the strategic investments made during his administration in education and specialised training infrastructure.

According to him, the establishment of KWASU and the International Aviation College was driven by a deliberate policy to promote human capital development and position Kwara State as a hub for technical and professional excellence.
“Our goal at the time was clear—to equip the next generation of Kwarans and Nigerians with the skills required to compete in highly specialised sectors of the global economy,” Saraki stated.
He noted that seeing a young woman from the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering take to the skies is a powerful validation of the vision behind those decisions, adding that the achievement underscores the importance of sustained investment in education.

Saraki further emphasized that the state must now refocus on restoring a culture of excellence, urging stakeholders to prioritise long-term development over short-term gains.
“The journey ahead must be about building not just for today, but for generations to come,” he added.
He congratulated Nurudeen on her groundbreaking accomplishment and expressed confidence that her success would inspire many more young Nigerians, particularly women, to pursue careers in aviation and other specialised fields. (vitalnewsngr.com)
