The Alafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade with descendants of Ogboja Adeyemi Alowolodu during the royal visit

The Newly Installed Alafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem OWOADE 1, has hosted the descendants of the OGBOJA ADEYEMI ALOWOLODU ROYAL FAMILY in his palace.

They were led by their Chairman, Alhaji Amusa Olayiwola Adejare Adesanu and the Family’s Secretary, Alhaji Prince Kola Kadewolu Adeyemi.

The Ogboja Adeyemi Alowolodu ruling house produced the late Alafin Lamidi Adeyemi while the newly installed Alafin is from Agunloye ruling house.

There are two ruling houses in Oyo – Ogboja Adeyemi Alowolodu and Agunloye.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Kola Adeyemi extolled His Imperial Majesty and formally welcome him from Canada to Nigeria,Yorubaland and Oyo in particular.

He pledged and assured Oba Owoade of the support of the entire descendants of OGBOJA ADEYEMI ALOWOLODU Royal House.

The family also pledged to assist the new Alafin in his quest to develop Oyo.

They prayed for an enabling environment for a peaceful and long reign of Oba Owoade on the throne of his forefathers.

Prince Kola Adeyemi used the opportunity to introduced the family members from Ofiki, Ago Are and Lagos who were also part of the entourage to the palace.

The Family Secretary then called the attention of His Imperial Majesty to aged long Cultural/ Traditional performance of Alafin Masquerade known as “EEGUN MOWURU.

He informed the Alafin that the the Masquerade had always been and is still in OGBOJA ADEYEMI ALOWOLODU House at BABA KEKERE COMPOUND, Oke Afin Oyo under the traditional care of Chief Otun Efa and some other traditionalists.

In his response, Oba Owoade thanked the OGBOJA ADEYEMI ALOWOLODU ROYAL FAMILY for their visit to the palace and their participation in activities marking his coronation.

He expressed confidence that the Royal Family is strongly and genuinely behind him, assuring the family members that the confidence reposed in him will not be betrayed

Oba Owoade disclosed that efforts towards development of Oyo, Yorubaland and Nigeria in general have already started.

He sued for peace, patience, supports and assistance from the family and other Oyo sons and daughters both at home and abroad.

His Imperial Majesty, specially thanked both Baba Bamigbade in Ofiki and Baba Adekola in Ago Are who could not be part of the entourage due to old age.

He also specially appreciated Baba Amusa Olayiwola Adejare Adesanu who came all the way from United Kingdom along with others to pay the royal visit to him.

On Alafin’s Masquerade – EEGUN MOWURU, Oba Owoade promised that all necessary traditional and Cultural steps would be taken very soon to ensure a successful outing of the Masquerade.
