Lokoja – A non-profit making organisation, Conscience For Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) for immediate sack of Abdulmumuni Danga, the Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources over his poor performance since assumption of office.

Idris Miliki Abdul, Executive Director, CHCR, made the call for the removal of the Commissioner in a statement in Lokoja on Friday.

Danga, had on Wednesday, January 18 issued a public apology to the people of the state over the hardship they are being subjected to over the inability of his ministry to provide water to them for months.

Miliki, however, said that Danga has through his poor performance in office inflicted too much hardships on millions households, especially women and children in Lokoja, the state capital, saying that he should no longer be allowed to remain office

He said living has become unbearable for residents of Lokoja and other parts of the state as a result of the failure of the ministry to process and distribute potable water for months.

“Since the flood that ravaged Kogi State and Lokoja in particular in 2022, which is more than three months now, the people of Lokoja have not enjoyed provision of water, which is one of the basic responsibilities of any government at all level.

“Despite billions of Naira used to establish the current water facility by the previous government, the current government has failed to extend the water to various communities and could not even maintain it and make it available to the people that brought it into power.

“No single senatorial district can boost of water provided by Kogi State Government and yet we suffer yearly flood,” Miliki said in the statement.

According to him, the Commissioner must go because he has failed in his basic responsibility to make water available to the people of Kogi State.

“Water is everywhere in Lokoja, and there is none to drink as people suffer daily looking for water to drink, as the government in place fails to provide water for them.

“We wonder how much it will take to maintain the water facility that we have and make it available for people?

“Water, they say is life, that is a popular saying everywhere you go, rich or poor, you need water.

“Making water available to citizens is moral, religious and constitutional reasonability of any government, State or Federal.

“It is ridiculous and unbelievable, that despite the location of River Niger and Benue in Lokoja the state headquarters, water has become an issue.

“A government that fails to provide water for its citizens cannot proof to have provided adequate welfare for the people that brought them into power,” he said. (vitalnewsngr.com)
