The Benue State State House of Assembly (BNSHOA) has elected Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga as its new Speaker in replacement of
of Hon. Aondona Dajoh who resigned from the position today, Sunday August 24, 2025.
The former Speaker, Aondona Dajoh had resigned as the Speaker of the house according to a letter he personally submitted on August 24, 2025.
Dajoh’s letter stated that his decision is in the best interest of the state.
He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the opportunity to serve as Speaker and assured that he would continue to carry out his responsibilities as a legislator representing Gboko West State Constituency.
His resignation comes just two days after Governor Hyacinth Alia dismissed claims that he was involved in a plot to remove Dajoh from office.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersooo Kula, the governor said he was unaware of any impeachment efforts and had no role in any ongoing activities in the assembly.
Alia reiterated his respect for the legislature and the rule of law, noting that he continues to respond to communications and resolutions from the House.
