Auchi College Lost Glory Restored Through Massive Reconstruction By Alumni Association Class 91
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Auchi College, Edo State, is now wearing a new look courtesy of a massive reconstruction carried out by the old students of the school under the aegis, Association Of Great Achievers Class 91.

The newly reconstructed Auchi College was commissioned on Monday, April 6, 2027 to the delight of the old students and other stakeholders.

The event was witnessed by people who came from far and near for the commissioning of the massive reconstructed Auchi College that was led by an old student, Mr Peter Omoh Dunia, aka Peter Black, an oil and gas mogul, the class of 1991.

Before the intervention, the college over the years was turned into a big “Cassava Farm” but it is now wearing a new look all round.

The dilapidation was very visible over the years until the Association of Great Achievers Class 91 came to the rescue to restore the lost glory of the famous College.

Speaking at the event, Mr Peter Omoh Dunia, explained that he and other old students of the college were moved to intervene by the pitiable plight of the current staff and students of the school.

He said they took it upon themselves to restore the old glory of the citadel of learning by creating a conducive learning environment for the successive students of the school.

Mr Peter Omoh Dunia (MR PROJECT) said : “Today is not just a ceremonial event for me.

“It is a deeply personal moment. I want to begin by thanking the Lord for his grace.

“The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 2:14..Now thanks be unto God: which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and make manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

“Standing here again in this school brings back memories that remain very vivid in my heart.

“Many years ago, in a quest for better education,
I and my twin brother left Ogbona and arrived at Auchi college.

“Today, I can say it was by God’s divine purpose.

“We walked through these same grounds as young students with big dreams but very little understanding of what the future held for us.

“Peter and Paul like many of my classmates can testify became a household name.

“Like many of the students sitting here today. I carried my books into classrooms like these with an old portfolio box I got from my Dad.

“Amongst many things, was the determination to be the best.

“This school gave me more than education.

“It gave me discipline. For that, I remain forever grateful to our Principal. Dr Egenege of blessed memory and all my teachers.Today.

“I stand here as a living testimony of the investment they made in our lives many years ago.

“This once-great institution helped shape who many of us have become today.

“It’s infrastructures were sound, its teachers were exceptional, and its standards inspired excellence.

“It was a place of dignity and opportunity.

“When I reflect on my journey.

“I realise that no matter how far life takes us, we can never truly leave the place that shaped our foundation.

“This school helped shape mine, and that is why today means so much to me,” he said.

He also said : “In this era of mounting government debt, the demands to address critical areas like security, roads, healthcare, agriculture, clean water, housing and education are undeniable.

“These are not luxuries: they are necessities. Yet it has become evident that government alone, despite its best intentions, cannot meet all these demands with the speed and scale required.

“This is where partnership becomes essential. Our purpose is not to replace government, but to support and strengthen it.

“The reconstructed and renovated school buildings we are commissioning today is not simply a physical structure made of cement and blocks. It represents gratitude.”

Governor Monday Okpebholo in his speech st the event said the Commissioning of the Reconstructed Auchi College “is with great honour and deep appreciation that I join you today for the commissioning of the reconstructed Auchi College.

“A project that stands as a shining example of unity, commitment, and love for community.

“What we are witnessing here today is more than the rebuilding of structures; it is the restoration of hope, the revival of legacy, and a bold investment in the future of our children.

“I sincerely commend the Association of Great Achievers, Class of 91, and the Chief Host of this event, Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia for this remarkable initiative.

“Your sacrifice, generosity, and dedication have not only rebuilt a school but have also renewed hopes and created opportunities for generations yet unborn.

“May Almighty God bless you richly for this noble act.

“Your actions have once again shown that when people come together with a shared vision, great things happen.

“This is the spirit we must continue to promote across Edo State.

“Let me also use this opportunity to call on other former student groups and well-meaning individuals to emulate this worthy example.

“Government cannot do it alone. Sustainable development requires partnership, collective responsibility, and a genuine commitment to the common good.

“To the students of Auchi College, this is your opportunity.

“This school has been rebuilt for you, make the most of it. Study hard, remain disciplined, and strive for excellence.

“To the school authorities, I urge you to maintain these facilities and ensure they are put to proper use.

“Together, we are building not just schools, but the future of Edo State.”

The current Principal of the College, Mrs. Adam Obetaru-Jato, said that she was elated with the facelift given to the College, commending the Class of 91 for the new look of the College.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole while speaking expressed gratitude to the Class of 91 for the transformation of the College.

The Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe 111, said that he was impressed with the new look of Auchi College.

Several others who spoke at the colourful ceremony thanked the Association of Greater Achievers Class of 91 of Auchi College for bringing the school back to life. (vitalnewsngr.com)
