Abducted Kebbi District Head Killed By Bandits, 8 Others Rescued

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Kebbi State Police Command, has confirmed the killing of Alhaji Isah Daya, the abducted District Head of Kanya, by suspected bandits in the state.

The police confirmed this in a statement released to newsmen .

The police statement reads : ” Daya was kidnapped along with eight others in Kanya District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area on October 6.

“A combined team of security operatives, comprising police, military, and vigilantes, conducted a daring rescue operation, resulting in the rescue of eight out of nine kidnapped victims from Kanya District in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

“Unfortunately, the district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya, lost his life during the incident.

“The rescue mission occurred on October 8, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m. in Sakaba forest, following a gun duel with the kidnappers.

“Commissioner of Police Bello Muhammad Sani extended condolences to the Kebbi State government, Zuru Emirate, and the late district head’s family, praying for his soul to rest in peace.

“The rescued victims according to the police are currently receiving medical attention at the General Hospital in Sakaba before being reunited with their families.

“The Kebbi State Police Command urges the public to provide relevant information to aid in arresting the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

“Anyone with information can contact the authorities to support the ongoing investigation.”

“This incident is the latest in a series of bandit attacks in Kebbi State.

“On Saturday, bandits stormed Kanya village, killing one person, Sheriff Almu, and abducting eight others, including the district head.

“The state government, under Governor Nasir Idris, has been working to enhance security and development across the region.

“The rescue operation demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to protecting citizens and combating crime.

“The public’s cooperation is crucial in apprehending the perpetrators and preventing future incidents.”
