Kano State Executive Council has approved the renaming of Kano State University of Science and Technlogy (KUST), in Wudil local government area of the state, after Africa’s richest man and industrialist, Aliko Dangote.
Dangote is an indigene of Kano and President of Dangote Group which is into cement manufacturing, oil and gas among others.
Kano Information Commissioner , Muhammad Garba confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.
He said the renaming follows the State Executive Council approval, saying the institution would now be called Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil.
Garba stated that the decision to rename the university followed recommendation by the university’s visitation Panel.
The commissioner also explained that the approval has been transmitted to the state House of Assembly to study the relevant laws establishing the university for amendment.
