The Kogi State chapter of Afenifere has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on his very lofty achievements in the area of security.
The group in a statement by its Chairman, Pastor Ben Ayo Abereoran, applauded the Governor for living up to his responsibility of protecting life and property of citizens.
In the statement which was issued to commemorate the 35 years anniversary of the creation of the state, Afenifere said Ododo has demonstrated capacity and gusto in tackling banditry and terrorism.
“The fundamental function of any responsible government is the protection of life
and properties.
“Kogi State government under the able leadership of H E Governor Usman Ododo has demonstrated capacity, knowledge and gusto in tackling terrorism and banditry.
“Your government engaged the criminals frontally, not begging the issues which indeed show that it is not business as usual for bandits and other criminal elements especially with the recent rescue of the Ofu
kidnap victims.
“Within the North Central states, your security architecture is second to none.
“This is eloquently evident in the area of intelligence gathering, coordinating prowess within the various security
agencies, paramilitaries and the locals.
“In fact, we advise State governors of neighbouring States to come and understudy the strategies behind your government’s success in this area.
“Before now, Kidnapping used to be a daily occurrence which makes travelers fear to travel on Lokoja-Abuja and Jabba – Ilorin
highways which link the Federal Capital Territory with Eastern, western and Northern parts of the country.
“Thanks to God Almighty with your efforts, our roads are safer than before.
“As you continue your good work as servant leader of our dear state, we remain solidly behind you as we wish you a very pleasant tenure,” the statement said.
