Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irenodu Ward, Kogi Local Government Area, have called for deeper grassroots engagement across all polling units to consolidate the party’s membership base ahead of 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders comprising party leaders, executives, political appointees, and other party faithful, made the call at a ward meeting held in Iganuma, chaired by the Irenodu Ward Leader, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Danladi.
Stakeholders firmly expressed continued support for Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, commending his policies and programmes, particularly his efforts at tackling insecurity across the state.
The stakeholders alao extolled the humanitarian virtues of the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Chief Abubakar Bashiru Gegu, applauding his role in fostering harmony and uplifting lives within the local government area.
Rising from the meeting, members resolved to present a united front in supporting APC candidates across all levels of elective office, from the presidency and governorship down to the chairmanship position.
The ward also reaffirmed its commitment to the existing zoning arrangement that allocated the local government chairmanship position to Irenodu ward, urging all party members to respect the zoning and throw their weight behind Alhaji Dauda Aliu for Koton-karfe 1 state constituency and other APC-fielded candidates.
Stakeholders further appealed to Hon. Suleiman Aguye, the incumbent APC House of Representatives flag bearer for Lokoja/Koto Federal Constituency, to honour his promises to the ward.
They also called for structured ward-level engagements with the lawmaker to ensure a seamless electioneering process.
On a note of urgency, the stakeholders made a passionate appeal to the Kogi state government to take immediate, proactive steps to provide relief to residents of Irenodu Ward ahead of seasonal flooding that had always submerged communities across the ward.
