The village head of Ungwan Babangida, Kauru Local Government of Kaduna State and 14 other residents of the village, have been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

The abduction took place on Thursday night, marking another incident of rising insecurity in the region.

Aminu Khalid, the youth leader of Dokan Karji, confirmed the incident to news outlets on Friday, stating that the attackers stormed the village around midnight.

He said they came firing sporadically at strategic points to create confusion before abducting their victims.

The village head, Babangida Sojiji, is among those taken, along with three women and nine men, including two labourers who had come from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area for farming work.

This latest kidnapping follows a similar attack just two days earlier, when bandits abducted four farmers in Libere community, also within Kauru Local Government Area.

Khalid, deeply concerned about the escalating wave of abductions and violence, called on the federal government and security forces to take stronger action against the criminals who have taken control of several villages.

“Kauru communities need serious military intervention against these bandits.

“Many breadwinners have been killed, and life for the villagers has become unbearable,” he lamented.

He also praised the efforts of local vigilante groups, acknowledging that they had successfully foiled multiple kidnapping attempts in surrounding areas.

However, he, stressed the urgent need for more comprehensive security measures to curb the growing threat posed by the bandits. (vitalnewsngr.com)
