Expectant and breastfeeding mothers in the country have been advised to always access available medical care in health facilities before, during, and after childbirth to reduce complications.
Wife of the Kogi State governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, made the call when she visited the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.
Represented by Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Margaret Oyibo, the governor’s wife said it was important for the expectant mothers to access ante natal care as well as post natal care to ensure their wellbeing and that of their babies.
Hajia Sefinat restated the dedication of Governor Ododo’s administration to improving health indices across the state and enjoined women to avail themselves of the various health programmes and initiatives, including the Kogi state Health insurance scheme aimed at ensuring increased access to healthcare.
While donating food items, cash and clothing to a mother, Halirat Isah, with a preterm birth of twins, Wife of the Governor stressed that she would continue to extend hands of fellowship to vulnerable persons across the state.
Hajiya Sefinat who also visited the IDP camp at Gadumo, Lokoja empathized with the victims of the flood disaster in the state as she donated food items, clothing and cash to a resident who was delivered of a baby at the camp.
In a remark, Wife of the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hajia Zainab Ahmadu felicitated with the families for the safe delivery and prayed for God’s blessings and protection upon them.
Also, Executive Secretary, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Muktar Atima emphasized the importance of such visits so as to give hope to the needy.
Atimah gave assurances that SEMA would continue to sustain emergency interventions across the state in line with its mandate.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Professor Isah Yahaya Adagiri welcomed the wife of the governor to the hospital and appreciated all her humanitarian efforts in the state.
Responding, the beneficiaries, Halirat Isah and Happiness Abraham, appreciated the governor’s wife for her benevolent gestures, noting that the items would bring succour to their families. (vitaalnewsngr.com)
