Police Rescue Five Persons From Kidnappers In Kogi

Police in Kogi State have rescued five kidnapped victims from their abductors.

William Aya, the state Police Public Relation Officer on Friday confirmed the rescue of the victims in a statement.

The victims were kidnapped on May 17, 2024 while on transit along Ajaokuta-Adogo road.

Aya , said police operatives attached to Adogo Division led by SP Yusuf Hantsi, in collaboration with the local vigilantes rescued the victims on Thursday

According to him, the operatives while on rescue mission, combed the bush and invaded the kidnappers camp.

“The hoodlums engaged the team in a gun duel. But due to the superior firepower of the team, the hoodlums abandoned their victims and fled.

“All the victims were rescued unhurt,” he said.

In another development, Aya said one Iliyasu Abubakar was shot dead while one other person sustained bullet wound on his right chest when yet to be identified started shooting indiscriminately in Ankpa on Thursday.

He said the incident occurred when armed hoodlums drove in an unregistered Golden colour Muzzle Toyota Camry and went to Ojode area, Ankpa where they started shooting sporadically.

“Immediately, the Divisional Police Officer of Ankpa Division, CSP Chikamnele Amaralam swung into action mobilized his team to the scene engaged the hoodlums which forced them to fled and abandoned one AK 47 Rifle with breech NO. 354951 are two live Ammunition,” the statement said.
