Nigeria on Friday , May 24, 2024, took center stage at the inauguration ceremony of Cllr Abigail Marshall Katung as the Lord Mayor of Leeds City Council.

Led by esteemed dignitaries including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Governors of Bayelsa and Kaduna State, 26 Senators, numerous members of the House of Representatives, Former Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Bishop Kukah, Gen Martin Luther Agwai, The Nigeria Consular General to the UK, and many others, the event showcased Nigeria’s vibrant presence on the global stage.

The inauguration ceremony held profound significance for both Nigeria and the Leeds City Council, as Cllr Abigail Marshall Katung became the first Nigerian to assume the prestigious position of Lord Mayor.

This momentous occasion not only reinforces the strong ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom but also highlights the growing influence of Nigerians in various sectors across the globe.
