The Federal Government will on Tuesday, January 30, 2014 inaugurate a 37-man Tripartite Committee on new National Minimum Wage.

The committee will be saddle with the mandate to recommend a new minimum wage for Nigeria.

The new minimum wage committee, under Chairmanship of a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Aji, will cut across the federal government, state government, private sector, and organized labor.

The committee includes members from the federal government, state government, private sector, and organized labor.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during a nationwide broadcast in October 2023, promised to give civil servants a living wage to help them cope with the present economic realities.

Members of the committee from the Federal Government side includes Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State, Labour, and Employment; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; Dr Yemi Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Dr Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, Permanent Secretary, GSO. OSGF; and Ekpo Nta, Esq, Chairman/CEO, NSIWC, Member/Secretary.

The State Government representatives on the committee includes Alh. Mohammed Umar Bago, Governor of Niger State; Sen. Bala Mohammed, of Bauchi State; Alh. Umar Dikko Radda, Katsina State; Prof. Charles Soludo, Anambra State; Sen. Ademola Adeleke, of Osun State; and Otu Bassey Edet, of Cross River State.

The Committee’s members will also come from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).    (vitalnewsngr.com)
