Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation discusses with senior management of Emirate airline, on the side-line of the Dubai Air Show

Discussions between Emirates Airlines and Nigerian officials have fueled optimism for the resumption of flights between Dubai and Nigeria.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of aviation and aerospace development, announced the discussion on X on Sunday, saying Emirates Airline will soon announce the exact date of the resumption of flight.

“I met with the top echelon of Emirates Airlines, and we continued very warm and fruitful discussions towards the resumption of flights from Dubai to Nigeria.“

The talks, which the minister described as positive and productive, took place on the side-lines of the Dubai Air show.

He said details of the resumption are being fine-tuned.

In October 2022, Emirates Airline suspended its flight operations to Nigeria due to challenges in repatriating funds from the country.

This marked the second suspension within the year, following an earlier suspension in August 2022.

The airline had said the action was primarily linked to the difficulty in accessing approximately $85 million in revenue held in Nigeria.(vitalnewsngr.com)
