Bello Charges Traditional Rulers On Tolerance, Peace, Unity , Peaceful Co-existence Of Nigerians

Lokoja – Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Friday charged traditional rulers in the state to continue to encourage peaceful co-existence of all the people living in their domains irrespective of their tribal and religious differences.

Bello made the charge when traditional rulers from across the state paid him a visit in Lokoja.

The governor also charged them to ensure that their subjects continue to live in peace, unity and tolerance of other Nigerians in their midst.

The governor further urged the traditional rulers to caution their subjects against engaging in acrimonious politics, spread of fake news and propaganda.

Ahead of the coming governorship election, Bello urged the traditional rulers to advise their subjects to conduct peaceful campaigns, devoid of any form of crisis, violence, or acts that might threaten the state’s peace and security.

He expressed confidence in his political party, the APC, and its ability to secure a rancor-free atmosphere for the people of Kogi State to cast their votes on November 11, 2023.

Regarding rumours of his death and sickness, the governor reminded everyone that life and death are in the hands of God alone, and he will return to God only when it pleases Almighty Allah.

The governor then implored the traditional rulers to continue working and praying for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While acknowledging the courage with which the president is handling the affairs of the the country,
Bello expressed optimism that better days are ahead, and the current challenges will yield the desired results.

The governor who took the opportunity to shed more light on the removal of fuel subsidy said the money to be saved will be channelled towards improving health, education, agriculture, and other critical infrastructure, all of which are essential for enhancing the well-being of the populace.

Regarding the Operation Light Up Kogi East, a rural electrification project in Kogi East Senatorial District, the governor said substantial achievement had been achieved, promising to complete the project as scheduled.

The governor who also spoke on the progress made so far on the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba, said advert for recruitment of qualified academics had been placed in some national dailies.

He urged qualified
sons and daughters of the state to apply and support the project.

The governor thanked the traditional rulers for their support for his administration’s policies and programmes, especially in the areasof community policing and overall development.

Bello used the opportunity of the traditional rulers’ visit to expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Atta Igala on the passing of his elder brother about two weeks ago.

The President of Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs, the Atta Igala, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Ogwuche-akpa ,who was represented by the Ohimege-Igu of Koto Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Isah Koto in his speech, assured Bello of their support.

The traditional rulers also commended the governor for his various people-oriented projects.

They acknowledged significant improvement in rural electricity supply, particularly in Kogi/Koto and Lokoja local government areas and urged him not to relent until this is replicated in all rural areas of the state.

The traditional rulers urged the governor to maintain the current momentum of progress in ensuring good governance, urging him not to be distracted by rumours and propaganda.
