Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Economic Council (NEC) led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to immediately work out interventions to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on the Nigerians.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State disclosed this shortly after a group of leading major oil marketers paid a courtesy visit to the president at the State house.
Abiodun who spoke to State House Correspondents after the meeting, said the marketers expressed solidarity with the President for removing the N4 trillion subsidy burden, saying that the action will enhance the FAAC allocation to states.
Governor Abiodun was a former Chairman of the Oil marketers association.
He said the marketers during the meeting announced their intention to donate between fifty to a hundred 50-seater mass transit buses to help the masses.
Each of the buses will cost about a N100 million and N10 billion cumulatively, to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal within the next 30 days, the governor said
The marketers expressed the hope that other corporate bodies will emulate their action.
