Lokoja – Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Yekini Ayoku has expressed the readiness of his men and officers to ensure adequate security during and after the state house of assembly election holding on Saturday, March 18.

A statement issued by SP William Aya, spokesman of the state police command said Ayoku gave the assurance after a meeting with Strategic Commanders, Tactical and Operational Commanders in Lokoja on Thursday.

The statement said the meeting adopted methods to contend with any threat that might disrupt election process and how to deal with such threat promptly

Ayoku noted that the election will generate a lot of interest and passion among residents, and consequently directed all Area Commanders and DPOs to ensure effective visibility policing.

He also directed them to step up their intelligence gathering activities so as to help them in forestalling any untoward situation.

“The Commissioner further warned potential disrupters to stay away from the polling booth and directed that anyone found culpable be dealt with according to the law.

“The Commissioner further reiterates that the ban on the unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, and covered registration number plates is still in force.

“He called on VIPs to abide by the directive that nobody should move around with security details and warns all security aides to cease from accompanying their principals to polling booths as anyone found flouting this directive would be sanctioned accordingly.

“Similarly, the CP further disclosed that the use of unauthorized security outfits is barred from participating in the election security management,” the statement said.

Ayoku then urged voters to come out in their large numbers to participate in the election, assuring that adequate security arrangement has been made to ensure security voters, electoral officers and election materials .(vitalnewsngr.com)
