Lokoja – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Ogori/Magongo state assembly election in Kogi State, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, has expressed the confidence that his party will emerge victorious in the national and state elections scheduled for February 25 and March 11.

Ogunmola who spoke during a chatt with newsmen in Lokoja said the massive turn out of Nigerians for the January 14 presidential rally of the PDP in Lokoja indicated that Nigerians are only waiting for tje election day to vote out the ruling APC.

He said the widespread poverty, unemployment, hunger, insecurity and other foisted on the people by the APC has made the PDP the party to beat in the election.

He called on the APC to start preparing its hand over note, saying that Nigerians will not make the mistake of re-electing it for another four-year term.

On the allegation that people were bused into Lokoja from seven states to attend the January 14 presidential rally, Ogunmola described the assertion as ridiculous, saying that the earlier the APC realised that the game is up for it, the better

The candidate insisted that the people at the rally were largely from within the state, saying that they trooped out to show their rejection and disenchantment towards the misrule of the APC.

On his chances in the election, Ogunmola who stated that he has served the people of Ogori/Magongo in various capacities in the past said his antecedents will speak for him on election day.

He said he has never one day abandoned the communities and the people, saying that his decision to contest was motivated by his love for service to God and humanity.

He said his priority if elected will be to see to the completion of the 4-kilometre Ogori -Magongo road and to create employment for youths and women.

Ogunmola said his job creation plan will revolve around agriculture, saying that youths will be encouraged to go into commercial mechanised farming to get them engaged meaningfully.

The candidate said he will partner with relevant government agencies and financial institutions to provide training, lands, inputs and agric loans for any interested youths and women.

He promised to work to improve social-economic activities of the area and further promote its tourism potential for the whole world to see.

Ogunmola also promised to leverage on his widespread contacts within and outside the state to looby for employment for youths of the local government and attract other democratic dividends.

He commended the INEC for the introduction of BVAS and other new innovations to ensure free and fair conduct of the coming elections, saying that the era of using violence and ballot snatching to win elections is gone.

Ogunmola, advised politicians planning to resort to violence during the elections to have a rethink, saying that voters are getting more sophisticated by the day and are ready to defend their votes at whatever cost. (vitalnewsngr.com)
