Kogi – It was all thrills and frills Saturday, 29th of January as Old Students of St Barnabas Secondary School, Kabba, Kogi alongside management, Staff and Students marked the grand Finale of the week long activities of the 60 Years Anniversary of the College.
The Grand Finale featured a lecture, fundraising for School’s Development, Commissioning of projects embarked upon by Old Students and cutting of the Diamond Anniversary Cake.
In his address at the occasion, the National President of Alumni Association, Dr Olusola Adubika thanked the founding fathers of the College for laying a solid foundation that has stood the test of time.
He noted that though the Alumni association was still young having been incorporated in 2017 but that it had achieved much.
” From the innocence of our days of yore, we have now grown to become mature and highly experienced individuals having gone through the processing,reformation, and refining of life’s crucibles.
“It is heartwarming to note that members of this noble association are making waves and impacting their immediate society, the Nigerian space and the global community at large in all fields of endeavours with their unblemished and impeccable records”, the President declared.
He urged the Alumni to do more to uplift the standards of infrastructure in the school.
In a lecture delivered by the President/Vice- Chancellor of Adeleke University, Ede,Osun State, Prof Solomon Adebola, an Alumnus of the school, he lamented the lip service paid to the educational sector by successive administrations in the country and called for a rethink.
Highlights of the Grand Finale included the commissioning of the rehabilitated School’s Library, Block of Class and ultra modern toilet and presentation of various items to the school.
The Health Committee of the association also offered free Health advisories and consultations to staff, students and Alumni of the school.
The Alumni conferred Lifetime Achievement Awards on four Alumni who have excelled and impacted their worlds.
They include Vice- Admiral Joseph Ajayi Mni(Rtd), Prof Solomon Adebola, Mrs Adejoke Atte and Prof Esther Akinlabi among others. (vitalnews)
