Security agents in Kogi State have intercepted 53 electrical transformers meant for electrification projects in different parts of the state while being carted away in a truck.

The truck carrying the transformers was intercepted at Obajana while on its way to Lagos State

The electrical transformers were stolen from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility in the state by a gang of criminals who were also arrested with the truck at Obajana.

The 53 electrical transformers which have now been recovered and kept at an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) facility in the state may have stalled the installation of the transformers in different communities in the state earlier in the year.

Reacting, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo lauded security agents for their vigilance and commitment to duty.
