Gunmen on Thursday shot dead three mobile police officers on Umunze road in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The murdered officers were attached to the stations 29 PMF and 54 PMF in Umunze, Anambra State.
Anamnra Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident.
He described the murder of the police officers as unfortunate.
He explained that reinforcement teams were already in the area to track down the fleeing gunmen.
“It is an unfortunate incident and it is part of the highest price security officers pay in serving the nation but the police command is not deterred by this development.
“The reinforcements teams are already in the area and the manhunt for the assailants is ongoing while a joint security patrols have been intensified in the area,” he said.
