Zamfara State Government has announced the closure of some cattle markets (Kara) in five local government areas of the state over persistent attacks and sale of rustled cows.

The state Commissioner of Information and Culture Mannir Mu’azu Haidara announced this in a statement and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The statement listed the affected cattles markets as Danjibga and kunchin kalgo in Tsafe Local Government Area, Bagega and Wuya cattles market in Anka, Dangulbi and Dansadau in Maru, Dauran in Zurmi and Nasarawar Burkullu in Bukkuyim Local Government Area.

According to the commissioner, the decision to shut the cattle markets was taken during the state security council meeting held last Thursday.

He said it was as a result of the reported selling and carting away of rustled cattles by suspected armed bandits.

Haidara said the council challenged security agencies and Directorate of Animal Health and Livestock Development to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

He assured the public that the situation was being monitored with a view to restoring peace in the affected areas.(vitalnewsngr.com)
