Train Services On Warri–Itakpe Rail Corridor To Resume Soon – Railway Corporation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says train services along the Warri–Itakpe corridor, which were temporarily suspended on July 15, 2025 for emergency repairs, will resume soon.

Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed this in a statement.

He said repair works on the damaged sections of the track had reached an advanced stage, bringing the corporation closer to restoring full operations.

Operations on the route were halted to allow engineers carry out what the corporation described as “urgent and critical” track maintenance aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers.

Though no specific date has been given, the NRC assured commuters that normal train movement will resume in the shortest possible time.

“We are pleased to announce that work on the affected sections has reached an advanced stage.

“Normal train movement will recommence shortly,” the statement said.

The NRC also expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience and understanding during the period of service disruption.

“We remain committed to providing safe, efficient, and reliable rail transport services across the country,” Unyimadu added.

The Warri–Itakpe railway line, which connects parts of Delta, Edo, and Kogi States, has become a crucial link for passengers and freight in Nigeria’s central and southern regions.

Its temporary closure had raised concerns among commuters and business operators who rely on the service.

A follow-up announcement will be made to communicate the exact date for the resumption of operations, according to the NRC.
