Yola – A traffic warden and five other persons have been crushed by a truck in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
A witness said that the driver of the truck lost control at a junction in Vinukilang settlement on the outskirts of Yola and that the truck rammed into a mechanic workshop and in the process killed the victims.
A trader, Yakubu Ayuba, said the truck’s driver ran away, a development that angered youths who set the truck ablaze and that fire from the burning vehicle spread to some shops.
Another witness said, ” the tipper conveying sand veered off and hit many people at the mechanic workshop.
“The driver escaped and people set his vehicle ablaze.”
A team of policemen, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Red Cross officials were seen evacuating corpses from the accident scene.
