TikTok has temporarily restricted late-night LIVE access for Nigerian users, blocking the feature between 11pm and 5am.
The restriction, which started on Sunday at midnight, affects creators with at least 1,000 followers, preventing them from hosting or watching live streams.
According to an in-app message, TikTok is limiting LIVE access as part of an investigation to ensure the platform remains safe and its community stays protected.
Affected users reported seeing a “No Access” label during the restricted hours, and some speculated that the move was due to rising reports of inappropriate content during late-night live sessions.
TikTok users who earn money through LIVE gifting reported that their balances were not touched, easing fears of sudden financial loss.
The restriction comes after TikTok released safety figures for West Africa, revealing it took action against 2,321,813 LIVE sessions and 1,040,356 creators worldwide for breaking LIVE monetisation rules in Q2 2025.
Nigeria alone recorded 49,512 banned LIVE sessions during the same period
