There’ll Be True Democracy In Nigeria If I’m Elected – Tinubu
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By Bukar Bolori

Maiduguri – The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has assured that his government would never deviate from the essence of democracy by ensuring that true democratic principle of government of the people, by the people and for the people is put in place.

Tinubu made the promise at the APC Presidential rally in Maiduguri, even as he

insinuated that the Naira redesign and fuel scarcity – which are anti people –  are attempts by some people to sabotage his election victory.

He vowed to run a government of hard work, honesty and accountability, noting that the people of Borno have suffered deprivation and hopelessness but, if elected as president, everything will be over.

He said: “You’ve suffered deprivation and hopelessness, some people created all these but we will take care of all of you. Your smile is back and your happiness is here.

“I want to assure you that the government that is coming, is a government of the people by the people and for the people.”

Tinubu, while expressing joy over the large turnout at the rally, promised to provide jobs and education to youth in the state.

He said: “Education is the greatest weapon, which your children would inherit and benefit from us for a better future.”

The party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, expressed optimism that the party will win.

He said: “Apart from the will of God, nothing will deprive us of victory in the election.

“In fact, with the votes from Jigawa, Borno, Kano, Katsina, we will defeat them next Saturday.Since we began this rally every state indicates success.”

The vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, who was a former governor of Borno State, said they will provide jobs for youths and recharge the Lake Chad and commence oil exploration in basin.

Governor Babagana Zulum, and former governors of Borno State  Ali Modu Sheriff and Maina Maaji Lawan said it is pay time for the people of Borno State for Tinubu’s choice of Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Sheriff said that “No Nigerian loves Borno more than Tinubu. They nearly robbed my second term governorship mandate, I ran to Tinubu and he helped me  Tinubu  win the second term bid in 2007.

“Now he picks my young brother as running mate and we assured him massive votes from Borno State” he added.

Also, Zulum expressed confidence that Tinubu would uphold the trust the people of Borno would repose in him by electing him president next Saturday.

Also, Governor Mai Mala Buni said that Yobe and Borno are indivisible state, “We are the worst hit by Boko Haram insurgency, without APC effort, we would have been staying to campaign without fear, the relative peace enjoyed is enough to thank God and vote for APC from bottom to top” he said.

Governors that attended the campaign include Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Engr Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, and Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar.
