Abuja – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello has warned traditional rulers in the territory to desist from illegal allocation of land or be ready to face the music.

The warning came as the authorities of the territory are facing the challenges of removing illegal structures and putting a stop to all forms of illegal developments within the FCT .

The Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho who gave the warning while a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler of Karu , Sakaruyi of Karu, Chief Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi said the administration can no longer tolerate the menace of illegal development.

Dantsoho said illegal allocation of lands by some traditional rulers had led to distortions in Abuja Master Plan and asked them to put a stop to the practice.

” Your Royal Highness, as I was planning to embark on this tour, the Honourable Minister Mallam Mohamed Musa Bello and her Excellency Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliu asked me to convey this message to all traditional rulers within the FCT so that they can in turn inform their chiefs, village heads and district heads that anyone still in the habit of allocating plots of land to individuals should desist from such act or be ready to have the full wrath of the law.

” It is only the FCT Minister that can allocate land in the Federal Capital Territory and that is a role he performs on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who happens to be the Governor-General of the FCT, ” he said.

Dantsoho also urged traditional rulers to be in firm control by making sure that there is no breakdown of law and order during the forthcoming Area Council elections in the six area councils making the FCT.

He charged the royal fathers to stop making political statements and open support for parties and candidates in the election.

” You Highness, the Ministers of the FCT urged me to let you know that in your chiefdoms, the government will not tolerate the breakdown of law and order as a result of this election in your area, they said what expected of you and your kinsmen is to preach the gospel of peace.

” When they come to seek for your royal blessing there is a need for you to caution them.

“You are a father to everyone, give your blessings to candidate that comes to the palace and also make them to understand that elections will come and go but our brotherhood will remain,” the Secretary stated.(vitalnews)
