Lokoja – Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Thursday urged Nigerians not to destroy the modest achievements recorded in democratic governance.
The governor made the appeal while speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi Chapter’s symposium held in Lokoja.
The symposium was on Bello’s seven years as governor of Kogi and the implications for future administrations.
Bello, who was so elated over the symposium, commended the NUJ for the initiative, which he said would go along to showcase his achievements as part of dividends of democracy.
He noted that though we were in a political season, there was need for all Nigerians, especially the politicians, to play the game according to the rules.
“Let me use this opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians that we should not fall into the trap of some few individuals that want to plunge this nation into chaos so that the election will not hold.
“But the president had assured Nigerians in his broadcast that there will be elections and that Nigerians will be secured.
“We should not by our own actions truncate this republic but let us remain calm because the tense situation is just temporal as in a few days to come, there will be a president-elect.
“We should remain calm and resolute as a people and ensure we go into this election peacefully.(NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
