Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.
Alli emerged on Thursday after polling 578,143 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari and Chief Adebayo Adelabu who polled 37,265 votes and 19,193 votes respectively in the governorship primary election conducted by the party across the 33 local government councils in Oyo State.
Alli is the current Senator, representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate.
A lawyer by profession, Senator Alli was a Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG) and a former Chief of Staff to former Governor of Oyo State who is now the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.
The outcome of the primary sparked celebrations among supporters of the APC chieftain, as prominent businessman and Okanlomo Oodua/Bada Olubadan, Dotun Sanusi, described the victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in Alli’s leadership and vision for Oyo State.
