Senator Ndoma-Egba Congratulates FUOYE VC, Prof Fasina@64

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has extended his warmest felicitations to the institution’s Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Abayomi Fasina, on the occasion of his 64th birthday.

The FUOYE VC, Fasina, an erudite scholar and distinguished professor of soil science, clocks 64 today.

Ndoma-Egba, an erstwhile Senate Leader and ex-Board Chairman Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC), in a statement issued to congratulate Prof Fasina on his 64th birthday, hailed his remarkable achievements as the VC of the 14-year-old university.

FUOYE is believed to be one of the fastest growing among its peers in Nigeria.

The Pro-Chancellor, who represented Cross River Central in the Senate between 2003 and 2015, noted that Fasina’s accomplishments at FUOYE will leave a lasting impact, and set a standard for the future of the institution renowned for its academic excellence and distinction.

The legal luminary prayed for God’s grace and mercy to continue to be upon the VC as he forges ahead in life.

“Congratulations Prof, happy birthday to you.

“May what is ahead of you be greater than what is behind.

“May God’s grace and mercy continue to locate you everywhere and always.

“Your remarkable achievements in FOUYE will remain an enduring legacy and the university’s benchmark for the future,” Ndoma-Egba said in his congratulatory message to the FUOYE VC, Prof Fasina.

Born on July 17, 1961, Fasina, a prolific researcher and writer with over 140 publications to his credit, was appointed FUOYE VC for a five-year tenure in February 2021.

Fasina is believed to have impressively repositioned the university for greater heights through his pragmatic, visionary, proactive and purposeful leadership.

His outstanding record of achievements as FUOYE helmsman earned him numerous awards of excellence by notable NGOs, student bodies and media organisations which included the Prestigious Independent Newspaper Vice Chancellor of the Year 2024 Award presented to him in March this year at an elaborate event organised by the reputable media outfit in Lagos.

Fasina was honoured at the event alongside other prominent Nigerians like the Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (Woman of the Year), Governor Seyi Makinde (Man of the Year), Senator Bassey Otu (Governor of the Year in Economic Transformation), Prof. Charles Soludo (Governor of the Year in Urban Renewal), Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo (Governor of the Year in Agriculture), Barrister Festus Keyamo (Minister of the Year) and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (Senator of the Year).

Some of the other awards that had been conferred on the erudite professor of pedology prior to the Independent VC of the Year Award, include the Integrity Icon of Nigeria Award by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) in 2022, Best Vice Chancellor Award 2023 by Digital Stardom Global Communications, Southwest Nigeria Education Award, Outstanding Administrator Award and NANS Best Performing Vice-Chancellor in South-West Award.

The FUOYE VC is believed to have lived a fulfilled life, contributed immensely to the growth of humanity, development of education and societal advancement at 64.

He is presently on a six-month leave which commenced in April and will end in October.

In his absence, the university is being ably led in acting capacity by Prof Olubunmi Shittu, a distinguished member of the management team and the DVC Academics. (vitalnewsngr.com)
