President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday commended the enterprising feat of Dangote Petroleum Refinery Company for reducing the price of diesel from N1, 200 to N1, 000 per litre.
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on media and publicity said in a statement in Abuja.
Recalled that Dangote Petroleum Refinery had on Tuesday reviewed downwards , price of diesel from N1, 200 to N1,000 per litre for a minimum of one million litres of the product, as well as providing a discount of N30 per litre for an offtake of five million litres and above.
The price review represents a 60 per cent drop, which will, in no small measure, impact the prices of sundry goods and services.
Ngelale quoted President Tinubu as affirming that ” Nigerians and domestic businesses are the nation’s surest transport and security to that glorious destiny of economic prosperity.”
He noted the federal government’s 20 per cent stake in Dangote Petroleum Refinery Company , saying that such partnerships between public and private entities are essential to advancing the overall well-being of the country.
” The President calls on Nigerians and businesses to, at this time, put the nation in priority gear while assuring them of a conducive, safe and secure environment to thrive,” Ngelale said.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced the unprecedented reduction in the price of diesel in Lagos Tuesday evening.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery had while rolling out the product about three weeks ago, supplied it at a substantially reduced price of N1,200,
representing over 30 per cent reduction from the previous market price of about N1,600 per litre.
This significant reduction in the price of diesel, at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, is expected to positively affect all the spheres of the economy and ultimately reduce the high inflation rate in the country. (vitalnewsngr.com)
