President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday approved key appointments for the newly established regional development commissions across the country.
Miss Usoro Akpabio has been named Managing Director of the South South Development Commission (SSDC), while Chibudom Nwuche has been appointed as the Chairman.
In a similar move, Dr. Charles Akinola was appointed as the Managing Director of the South West Development Commission (SWDC), with Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi serving as the Chairman.
For the North Central Development Commission, Barr. Cyril Tsenyil will serve as Managing Director, and Cosmas Akiyir will take on the role of Chairman.
President Tinubu communicated these nominations in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, requesting legislative confirmation of the appointments.
Meanwhile, the Senate has also passed the remaining two of the four tax reform bills submitted by President Tinubu’s administration.
The legislative body had approved two on Wednesday, with the remaining two bills passed on Thursday.
These executive tax bills—namely the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, and the Nigeria Tax Bill—aim to overhaul and modernize the country’s tax infrastructure.
The bills will undergo a harmonization process between the Senate and House of Representatives before being forwarded to the President for assent. (vitalnewsngr.com)
