The Kwara State Police Command has debunked the video circulating online claiming that the armed bandits who attacked church worshippers in Eruku, community have been arrested.
Spokesman of the command, SP ADETOUN EJIRE-ADEYEMI dismissed the video in a statement on Thursday, 20th November, 2025.
The video which started trending Thursday afternoon had claimed that local vigilantes have arrested bandits behind the killing and kidnapping of worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
During the attack, three worshippers were killed while 35 others were kidnapped by the fleeing bandits.
The police statement reads : “PUBLIC NOTICE : DEBUNKING FALSE VIDEO ON ERUKU KIDNAPPING INCIDENT.
“The Kwara State Police Command is aware of a video circulating online claiming that the armed bandits who attacked church worshippers in Eruku community have been arrested.
“This information is COMPLETELY FALSE and should be disregarded.
“The Command wishes to state clearly that no arrest has been made yet in connection with the attack.
“Security agencies are actively conducting intensified operations in and around Eruku Town to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims.
“Members of the public are advised to desist from spreading unverified videos or claims capable of causing panic or misleading the community.
“For accurate information, kindly rely on official communication from the Kwara Police Command.”
