Lafia – Nasarawa State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the kidnapping of the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Mohammed Lawal from his residence in Nasarawa Eggon.
The confirmation was contained in a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nansel Ramhan and made available to journalists in Lafia.
According to the statement,
On 15/8/202 at about 2045hrs, the attention of policemen on routine patrol was drawn to the sound of sporadic gunshots in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
It said the police operatives attached to Nasarawa Eggon Division raced to the scene while the Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi, immediately reinforced the men with a combined detachment of the Police.
But the abductors escaped with the Commissioner and released his son, Mushab Yakubu Lawal, who was earlier kidnapped with him.
Lawal was abducted at about 9 pm on Monday evening, August 15, at his Nasarawa Eggon GRA residence.
The whereabouts of the Commissioner could not be ascertained as at the time of this report while his abductors are yet to establish contact with his relations. (vitalnewsngr.com)
