Police in Kogi in synergy with other security agencies have began a manhunt for the gunmen that killed three police officers and two vigilantes in the early hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Egbe, Yagba West Local Government area of the state.
Spokesman of the state police command, SP Ovye Aya Williams, disclosed this in a statement Wednesday evening.
He said the victims were killed along Okoloke – Pategi road patrol team at pin down point along Okoloke-Pategi road, Egbe.
Aya said the command lost three of its officers during the attack before the reinforced team arrived at the scene.
To this end, the said the Commissioner of Police, Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered the deployment of tactical team comprising police mobile force, counter-terrorism unit, anti-kidnapping, intelligence and quick response units to work in synergy with other security agencies to hunt down the killers.
Dantawaye also ordered the team to quickly
restore normalcy in the area.
According to the statement, the CP further tasked the deputy commissioner of police, investigation department, to commence investigation into the incident.
“The CP calls on the good people of the area to assist the police with credible information on the identity of the hoodlums to enable the police trail and apprehend them,” Aya said.
