The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognized former Senate President David Mark as the new national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The confirmation, published on the electoral body’s website on Wednesday, followed a restructuring within the party that produced new national officers ahead of the 2027 elections.
In the update, INEC also listed former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola as national secretary, former Edo State governor Oserheimen Osunbor as national legal adviser, Ibrahim Mani as treasurer, and Akibu Dalhatu as financial secretary.

Their recognition came after the opposition coalition adopted the ADC on July 2, 2025, as its platform to contest the presidential and other elections in 2027.
The coalition said its mission is to rebuild Nigeria’s democracy and provide an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Key members of the coalition include former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Others are Dino Melaye, Solomon Dalong, Dele Momodu, Gabriel Suswam, Ireti Kingibe, Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
During the unveiling, former ADC chairman Ralph Nwosu officially handed over leadership to Mark and Aregbesola.
However, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, rejected the coalition, accusing its members of recycling leaders who had failed Nigeria in the past.
The Mark-led coalition has vowed to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, but Tinubu dismissed the group, calling its members displaced politicians.
