The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will neither recognise nor post online the list of “national officers” produced at the November 15-16, 2025 national convention of the Peooles Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan.
INEC in a letter dated December 22, 2025 and signed by its Secretary, Dr Rose Oriaran-Anthony, said the decision was due several court judgments – and fresh suits – still hang over who runs the party.
A former Minister, Kabiru Turaki’s emerged as the new national Chairman of the PDP at the convention.
However, another group of national officers, were elected at the meeting of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party few dats later.
Dr Rose Oriaran-Anthony, in the letter said any move to accept factional executives while cases are still in court would breach the subsisting judgments it is bound to respect, so it is staying out until the judiciary decides.
