The Federal Government has handed over 20 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to the Oyo state government.

The buses were handed over to the Oyo State government on Monday in Ibadan.

The Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), Michael Oluwagbemi, handed over the buses at the premises of the Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), Eleyele, Ibadan.

Oluwagbemi, stated that the initiative was one of the Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the effort is aimed to mitigate the impact of the loss of gasoline subsidies while also promoting a safer, cleaner, and more reliable society.

According to him, the deployment of CNG buses in the country was intended to solve issues that impact Nigerians, notably those related to fuel importation.

He said : “President Tinubu is asking us to use our gas to thrive in transportation, and industries, produce more foods and fertilizers as well as other things that will make life easier for the people.

“We are beginning to do the right thing but this requires us to taste some pains.

“We can’t go back to subsidize our own impoverishment.

“As a team, we are determined to show our commitment.

“We are here to present 20 buses as a sustainable partnership with Pacesetter Transport Service (PTS) to generate income because they are assets.

“We can effectively ensure that the future of the Oyo State is brighter as well as Nigeria.”

Receiving the buses, Mr Ibrahim Salami, Chairman and Sole Administrator of PTS, said the introduction of CNG buses is a strategy to alleviate the suffering being experienced by Nigerians as a result of the elimination of fuel subsidies.

He said the buses will assist in alleviating the pressure on the state’s residents.

Ademola Aderinto, Governor Seyi Makinde’s special assistant on the environment, also stated that CNG is a significantly cheaper kind of energy.

He stressed that the project will provide a longer and better life by preventing the production of carbon monoxide, which is always created by combustion engines.     (vitalnewsngr.com)
