The state APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola while
unveiling Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, described her as “a partner with me to take Ogun State to the next level.”

Senator Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, presented Mrs Adegunwa-Balogun to party stakeholders at the APC Secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

The event was attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Senator Akin Odunsi, and other party leaders.

Adeola described his running mate as a “disciplined, upright and experienced professional” who would work with him to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun from 2027.

The Aremo of Yewaland said the choice of Mrs Adegunwa-Balogun was the outcome of painstaking deliberations and wide consultations with critical stakeholders across the state.

The unveiling came barely two months after Senator Adeola emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate and was subsequently ratified through a direct primary election conducted across the state’s 236 wards.

Following a motion moved by Governor Abiodun for her adoption as the party’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, was unanimously adopted through a voice vote as Adeola’s running mate.

In her response, Mrs Adegunwa-Balogun thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Adeola and other party leaders for finding her worthy to share the APC governorship ticket with Adeola.

Speaking earlier, the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, said the process leading to the 2027 governorship election had not been concluded, noting that the unveiling of the deputy governorship candidate was the next critical step.

He commended Governor Abiodun for his magnanimity and wisdom in ensuring a rancour-free primary election across the state.
