Ogun 2023: The intrigues and triumph of truth over falsehood

Chronicling the recent political events in Ogun State, especially developments preceding the gubernatorial primary of Thursday, 26th May, every political pundit was in an atmosphere of confusion about the underpinning issues in Ogun polity that triggered such intense tension and acrimony.

In truth and indeed, Ogun State remains a distinct federating
unit among its equals, going
by its strategic location and
urban nature, as well as the sophistication and consciousness of its people.

The State paraded leading political giants since colonial era up till independence and
later produced astute political elements that shaped the political environment of Nigeria at independence and throughout the republics.

These enviable feats recorded
by Ogun State in the Nigerian political space are indeed the reflection of the inherent sophistication of the people
of the State and their unique political consciousness.

Suffice it to say that hardly would any pretender or impostor, no matter highly placed have a field day perpetually in the State without being exposed and disgraced. That is the spirit that stands Ogun State out within the comity of states.

Meanwhile, the thought of a scholar, Dashanne Stokes, remains very instructive and directly speaks to the gimmicks that preceded the primary election of Thursday in the State.

Stokes asserted” When you are dealing with frauds and liars, listen more to what they do not say than what they do.”

So, by listening to what these liars and frauds were not saying beyond what they do, many were wondering how the propaganda machine of the former Governor
of the State suddenly became activated rather more vociferous and began to move desperately in the direction of the focused and visionary Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Ogun populace began to ask questions on why the man who
ruled the State as a jungle and institutionalized ‘government by deception’ could have such an effrontery to wage a propaganda war against the man who within
a short time has entrenched transparent and responsible government with modesty and civility.

Unfortunately, for this team of obscurantist, whose stock in trade is smear campaign and destructive politics, the people of Ogun State, particularly majority of political players in the State, who witnessed the days of suffocating civilian junta under the ring leader in the last administration and the inclusive government of today, decided to move in the right and popular direction, by joining Prince
Dapo Abiodun in the quest for rebuilding Ogun State.

Sincerely, the unanimous resolution of political leaders
in the State to follow the path of honour and nation-building alongside Governor Dapo Abiodun was evident in the landslide victory for the governor in the just concluded primary of Thursday.

The zero scores recorded by the five conspirators and celebrated stooges indicated a ‘RED CARD’ for this shameless team of distortion and destruction.

There is no doubt that in the
same vein, the electorate in
Ogun will do the same and endorse a purposeful continuity of Prince Dapo Abiodun without hesitation and show the credulous team the way out of the political stage of Ogun State finally and permanently.

Indeed,” Truth is hard and Propaganda is cheap”, the gubernatorial primary of Thursday in the Gateway State was clearly a triumph of hard truth over cheap propaganda; our people, through their leaders have loudly spoken and announced their conviction about the responsive leadership provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun and his committed team.

For this team of propagandists, they should know for sure that
the personality of Governor Dapo Abiodun is far above the pettiness they exhibited in their various frivolous petitions and beer parlour narratives on social media.

Dapo Abiodun is a serious minded leader with sound knowledge of material and human coordination and management, he has no time
for jamboree and idleness, as he has vowed to take the state to a greater heights without noise.

For sure, every citizen of the State understands the rot in the system at the point of assumption of office and the frantic efforts making by the Administration to right the wrongs of yesterday.

We strongly believe that by sustaining this tempo of seriousness and focus by Dapo Abiodun-led Administration and with the help of God, there will be light at the end of tunnel in Ogun State.

Congratulations Governor Dapo Abiodun on this victory over falsehood.

Ajewole Samson, Ijoko-ota,
Ogun State.
