OEAS Endorses Self Referendum On Biafra Republic
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) has endorsed the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, SelfReferendum on Biafra.

Dr. Ebenezer Akwanga,  Director/CEO, OEAS, said the endorsement follows exhaustive deliberations by the Board of Directors of the organisation at a special meeting on June 24, 2024.

According to him, the selfrefendum was endorsed because “Nigeria Government refuses to administer or permit a third party to conduct the Biafra Referendum.”

Akwanga , said the Nigerian government had repeatedly rejected the demand for referendum for Biafra Republic for just no reason, hence the decision.

He said : “In 2011 , Biafra became a charter member of the Organization of Emerging African  States (OEAS).

“In December 2015, OEAS called on the Nigerian government to hold a referendum on Biafran self-determination within 90 days including the option of the total
independence as the Republic of Biafra after a transitional phase of not more than 180  days.

“In 2016 , OEAS repeated the call for referendum as the sponsor of the All Biafra Conference of Accra.

“In October 2020, OEAS repeated its demand for referendum on Biafran selfdetermination to the Nigerian government,”

He said all these demands were ignored by the Nigerian government, saying that OEAS is left with no other option than to endorse the Biafra self referendum.

Akwanga , said the OEAS has also ordered that :  “The results of the Biafra Self Referendum shall be considered binding under international law as a definitive statement of the intentions and aspirations of the Biafran people.”

He said the organisation arrived at these decisions because : ” The African Charter of Human and Peoples Rights Guarantees the Right to Self Determination.

“Biafra has submitted a request to the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights to assist with the referendum and peaceable transfer of power to the Republic of Biafra, if so, indicated by the results.

“The OEAS is satisfied with the integrity of the referendum which is being conducted digitally and at local polling stations and is subject to multiple safeguards.

“The results of the referendum will be certifiable and will meet international standards.

“Millions of Biafrans have already voted in the referendum which is due to be concluded November 29, 2024. ”

The OEAS is a public charity registered with the United Nations
Department of Economic and Social Affairs NGO Branch, The European Commission Authentication
System (ECAS) and EU Potential Applicant Data On-Line Registration (PADOR).

The OEAS then congratulated the Biafra Republic Government in Exile for its sagacity and initiative in undertaking the referendum on the future of Biafra.

The OEAS is a public charity and international NGO with the following mission ; The mission of the OEAS in Africa is to promote positive change in Africa by supporting
and strengthening grassroots initiatives for community, social justice and selfdetermination.

It accomplishes that mission by shipping hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of clothing, necessities of life and medical supplies to West Africa each year and by supporting and advocating for the emerging states and peoples of Africa seeking  freedom, liberty, and democracy.
