Operatives of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) have arrested two suspected bandits and recovered a made in US pistol during an intelligence-led operation in Saminaka community, Patigi Local Government Area.

The suspects; Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were apprehended on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following surveillance by NSCDC operatives who had been monitoring suspicious movements in the area.

According to the command, the suspects are part of a group of three individuals sighted in a volatile location within the community.

“While two were successfully arrested during the operation, the third suspect managed to escape and is currently on the run,” the organisation said.

Security officials disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.

Items recovered from the suspects include a pistol with serial number 7886, reportedly made in the United States, a mobile phone, as well as substances suspected to be tramadol and cigarettes.

Speaking while parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Friday, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bawa Bodinga, said the arrest was part of the corps’ ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the state.

He assured residents that the command remains committed to strengthening security operations and protecting lives and property.

Bodinga warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist, stressing that the command would not relent in pursuing offenders.

He said the corps would continue to intensify intelligence gathering and operational strategies to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.

The commandant also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that could assist in preventing crime.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation or transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation,” he said.
