Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has called on communities and vulnerable groups in the state to always support his administration’s efforts at cushioning the impact of the current economic hardship on the people.
Ododo charged them to always give their support by embracing the policy and programmes of his administration which are aimed at alleviating poverty across the state.
The governor made the call on Wednesday in a message read on his behalf at the flag off of implementation of micro community and group micro-projects in Lokoja and Kogi Local Government areas of the state.
The governor was represented at the event by Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris, the Chairman of the State Cares Steering Committee who also double as the state Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.
Asiru assured the rural communities in the state of the commitment of Governor Ododo to the development of both urban and rural areas of the state to ensure economic resilience and poverty reduction.
In his speech at the occasion, the General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda Momoh, said the Basic Services implementation unit in the NG-CARES Programmes was a pride the governor is relying upon to achieve rapid development in nook and crannies of the state.
Momoh, described Governor Ododo as a ‘God Sent’ to Kogi State to further ensure rapid development , particularly in the the rural areas.
He said over18,000 people are programmed to benefit in the two (2) and one (1) group whose project are being flag off .
He named the projects to include Clinic renovation, Well Construction and Science Laboratory for Aseni Community; Clinic Renovation and Motorised Borehole and Clinic Upgrade and Water Reticulation for Ihigeba Onro Bihu in Tuturu community in Girinya area of Kogi Local Government.
According to the General Manager, over 18,000 persons are proposed to benefit from micro-projects in the six (6) location of the of the micro projects in the two (2) communities and one (1) group.
The projects are part of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES programme) recently flagged off by the government of Kogi state.
In their reaction, the Obaro of Emu-Oworo, Chief Jeremiah Ajinde Meseru and a community Leader, Pa. Ade Alenmi, commended Governor Ododo for creating a platform for all the community to benefit from his government which they described as peoples government.
The people of Aseni Community in Kogi Local Government Area also commended Governor Ododo for bringing and distributing dividends of democracy to rural communities in Kogi Sate.
Their traditional ruler, Ona of Aseni, Chief Muhammed Yakubu gave the commendation while speaking at the flag of the implementation of rural micro-projects in Aseni Community (Kogi LGA), Emu Community (Lokoja LGA) and Tuturu community in Girinya area of Kogi LGA).
The traditional ruler appreciated the governor for including their community as one of the beneficiaries of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES programme) in the state.
