The new Maigari of Lokoja, Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, has promised to use the throne to work for peace, stability and development of the town.
Maikarfi who made the pledge on Wednesday in Lokoja said his resolve was to promote the overall development of his domain and the entire Kogi State.
The royal father spoke in his palace shortly after he was turbaned as the Seventh Maigari of Lokoja, by the Kingmakers led by Talban Lakwaja, Rtd Air Marshall Ndatsu Umaru.
The turbaning event was presided over by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammadu Aminu Sha’aban.
Recall that Maikarfi was recently appointed the new Maigari of Lokoja by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The new Maigari succeeds his father, Alhaji Muhammadu Maikarfi 111 who died on September 6, 2022.
The new Maigari commended the governor and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He also promised to sustain and continue with the good legacies of his predecessors.
The traditional ruler maintained that priority attention would be given to the unity and development of his people.
The royal father enjoined the people in the emirate to rally round him in the discharge of the onerous responsibilities as Maigari and forge ahead to meet the challenges of the futures.
Maigari Kabir Maikarfi further thanked the kingmakers for bestowing the position of Maigari on him.
“I thank all those responsible for my appointment, kingmakers, ruling houses and the governor for confirming and approving my appointment, ” he said.
He said he was touched by the show of love and affection from the people of Lokoja Local Government.
He thanked all the royal families for their support and sportsmanship adding that ” it’s time to unite for the peace, unity and development of our community.”
The turbaning ceremony was witnessed by eminent personalities including the Talban Lokoja and former military governor of Kano state, retired Air Marshall Ndatsu umaru, Dan Darma of Lokoja, Barr Ahmed Nasir,Tafida of Lokoja, Olu of Oworo,Rogan of Eggan among others.
Highlight of the turbaning event was the paying if traditional homage to the new Maigari by members of ruling houses in Lokoja. (vitalnewsngr.com)
